Permits for Docks & Boathouses
The MNRF now requires that persons wanting to build a dock or boathouse with a total surface area greater than 15 sq m (or about 150 sq ft) apply for a permit to occupy Crown land. Also applies to existing structures.
MPAC Changes for 2016
There are some important changes in Municipal Property Assessments for 2016. Firstly, the notices will be sent out at different times of the year, depending on where you live. Secondly, the deadline for filing a Request for Reconsideration (RfR) has changed and is related to the date your notice is sent out.
GBA Writes to Minister TooToo
The GBA recently read with interest and some concern the Fisheries and Ocean's Standing Senate Committee's Report, An Ocean of Opportunities: Aquaculture in Canada, July 2015 and wrote to The Honourable Hunter Tootoo, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Canada to share our views.
A Call with the Commissioner
We recently participated in a phone call with the Commissioner of Environment & Sustainable Development. Commissioner Gelfand openly discussed some of her office's most recent work. Of interest were their investigation of pesticides and pipelines.
