GBA Turns 100

On April 2nd the Georgian Bay Association's Annual General Meeting was held, followed by a reception which kicked-off its 100th Anniversary celebration year. Guest speakers included Her Honour, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Elizabeth Dowdeswell and the Honourable Glen Murray, Ontario's Minister of the Environment and Climate Change. Permits for Docks and Boathouses

Permits for Docks & Boathouses

The MNRF now requires that persons wanting to build a dock or boathouse with a total surface area greater than 15 sq m (or about 150 sq ft) apply for a permit to occupy Crown land. Also applies to existing structures.

MPAC Changes for 2016

There are some important changes in Municipal Property Assessments for 2016. Firstly, the notices will be sent out at different times of the year, depending on where you live. Secondly, the deadline for filing a Request for Reconsideration (RfR) has changed and is related to the date your notice is sent out.

We recently participated in a phone call with the Commissioner of Environment & Sustainable Development. Commissioner Gelfand openly discussed some of her office's most recent work. Of interest were their investigation of pesticides and pipelines.

Native Plant Sale

EGBSC is making it easier for you to plant native species…functional AND beautiful! We will be hosting a native plant sale on Saturday, May 28th. Plants will need to be ordered by May 20th. The pick-up location will be the Parry Sound Museum on 17 George St., Parry Sound, from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

As of April 15th levels in Michigan-Huron are 10 inches higher than this time last year, 30 inches above Chart Datum and 16 inches above long term average for this time of year.
