Salamanca Pedestrian Improvements

Update - Change to Traffic Arrangements

There will be changes to traffic arrangements in Gladstone Street, Salamanca Place and in front of Parliament House Gardens in place from Wednesday 26 June 2019.

As work progresses and in order to complete the realigned Castray Esplanade and Gladstone Street junction near Princes Wharf 1 (PW1), it is necessary to adopt the final design of the two-way traffic arrangement in Gladstone Street, in front of Parliament House Gardens from Wednesday this week.

There will be new stop signs located at the intersection of Gladstone Street and Salamanca Place as well as 'no entry' signs and a 'no right turn' sign to alert motorists of the direction change in Gladstone Street. See images below.

The early adoption of this two-way arrangement will be an improvement on the current temporary detour along Castray Esplanade to access Salamanca Place at the Silo Apartments.

This major change to the traffic flow on Gladstone Street from one-way to two-way movement, has been approved by the City’s Traffic Engineering Unit. Communication of this change on site, will be via the placement of variable message boards and advertised in The Mercury on Wednesday 26th June.
