The winter months have been hugely busy and challenging in our hospitals and other health care settings. We know many services continue to be under significant pressure but we hope we will see you at ur stopworks over the nect cuple of weeks.  Meanwhile there are a few other things going on that we need to keep you updated about.

Conference Remits

ASMS’ 33rd Annual Conference will be held on Thursday and Friday, 25-26 November 2021.

If you have any items you would like formally considered or voted on at the Conference, we need to have these remits by the following deadlines:

Constitution amendments - Tuesday 24 August 2021
Any other remits – Sunday 24 October 2021

Remits may include amendments to the Constitution, policy and other matters. All remits must be in writing and can be sent to National Office, conference@asms.org.nz.

New conference venue

This year we have a new venue for the Conference - InterContinental on Grey St, Wellington.  The hotel has strict policies on providing guest information well in advance of the event.  Your registration will need to be received no later than 30 days prior to conference to secure your accommodation at the InterContinental.  Registrations received after this will not be guaranteed a room at the InterContinental and may be accommodated elsewhere.

The theme this year is ‘Checking the Pulse of our Health System’.

We’ll be inviting some of the people charged with reforming our health system to tell us how it’s shaping up.

Registrations will open in late August.  To register your interest to attend please email conference@asms.org.nz.

Change in pre-conference function

We are pleased to confirm that an art exhibition featuring the work of senior doctors and dentists is going ahead as our pre-conference event.

The “Doctor and Dentist Artists” exhibition is being curated by the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington, where the artworks will go on display.

Third round of JCCs

The third round of JCCs start in early September, running through until November.

Due to the upcoming Stopworks meetings we had to cancel a small number of second round JCCs, as previously advised.

You can find the date of your JCC meeting here.

We’ve sent you all a lot of messages lately, and hopefully haven’t overloaded your inbox. As you’ll know there’s quite a bit going on right now and we want to keep you up to date.
