OCTOBER IMMUNISATION UPDATE

LATEST UPDATES

  1. Digital Australian Immunisation Handbook now available - Questions about vaccination and the Australian Academy of Science have produced a series of videos now online. 
  2. Important contact details for Immunisation - Check the latest contact details for Immunisation information
  3. Neonatal Hepititis B Prevention and Vaccination Program - GPs need to be aware of the Neonatal Hepatitis B Prevention and Vaccination Program - NSW Health Policy Directive, when treating pregnant women. 
  4. Cold Chain Management - What is required? - All practices that order vaccines are required to comply with the vaccine storage guidelines outlined in the Strive for 5 guidelines
  5. Data Loggers - A requirement for all fridges that store vaccines -A data logger is a battery powered measurement instrument that will log and store the temperature of a vaccine refrigerator at set intervals (usually every five minutes).

  7. Do you have your power outage back up vaccine storage plan in place? Each immunisation facility should have a back-up plan and alternative vaccine storage (i.e. backup generator, battery or cooler box/esky) if a power failure or fridge failure occurs
  8. AIR Education Videos The Department of Human Services (DHS) has published five new Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) eLearning education modules to help vaccination providers understand how to access and use AIR site and record vaccination episodes.

  10. Updated Immunisation Resources Immunisation Australia are in the process of updating the ‘Common Reactions’ tear off pad for patients as well as the ‘Injection Site’ poster to include the vaccines new to the July 2018 schedule.
