U-Club Staff Senate Scholarship Fundraiser THIS FRIDAY!

It’s almost time for the third annual Staff Senate Scholarship U-Club fundraiser. You don't have to be a U-Club member or regular attendee to volunteer, to contribute, to donate, or to attend. This year's theme for the University Club's Staff Senate Scholarship Fundraiser Night is The Love Boat.

Come dressed in your coolest cruise-gear, bring a food item to share, and be ready for a fun-filled stop in Acapulco. This event is a campus and community-wide fundraiser for the Staff Senate Scholarship Fund, so all guests are welcome.

"Come aboard" at 5:00 pm to the U-Club and support this worthwhile cause!

Parking and Transportation Update

Exciting parking news - the traffic light located at the intersection of Centennial Drive and University Way will be here soon! Drilling for the foundation will begin April 20-25. Please be aware that traffic delays are possible, and please be patient during this time. We are excited for this important improvement to our campus transportation infrastructure!

Tuck River Clean Up

Almost 600 volunteers participated in the Tuck River Clean Up on Saturday, April 8 and pulled about a ton of trash from the river. Trash was also cleared from the banks of the river by volunteers. Trout Unlimited and the WCU Fly Fishing Club brought in a backhoe to pull up some larger river debris. The Clean Up also had volunteers clean a new section of the river, East LaPorte to Cullowhee Dam.

Thanks to everyone who participated!

What is your job title and department?
I am a Visual Arts Specialist in the Print Shop.

Where are you from?
I am from Canton, NC.

How long have you worked at WCU?
I've been at WCU since 2004.

What is your academic background or special training you'd like to share?
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art from UNC and an Associate's Degree in Graphic Design from Southwestern Community College.

What is your favorite thing about working at WCU?
I've been thinking about this question for a while now, trying to come up with something more creative than "the people." I like the mountains. I like the collegiate atmosphere. I like the cutting edge technology I work with. But there's no way around it - the people that I work with, and work for, are the best part about working at WCU. At the Print Shop, I get to work with a wide variety of Western students, staff, faculty, and alumni and they are all awesome!
