Modern Art Oxford is supported by Arts Council England and Oxford City Council. No Images? Click here EXHIBITION New chapters of Aleksandra Mir’s ongoing work Space Tapestry span the walls of the Piper Gallery. Much like a graphic novel, Space Tapestry tells an episodic visual story of Space travel. Mir has brought together a team of collaborators aged 18 to 24, to draw the work collectively in her studio, and it is only when you get up close that you can really appreciate the detail and individuality of each pen stroke. EXHIBITION This weekend is your last chance to see Kazem Hakimi's Portraits from a Chip Shop. The exhibition captures a snapshot of the artist's community in East Oxford offering an opportunity to appreciate the dignity of each individual within the diverse city. Hakimi’s skilled photographic portraits capture trust, warmth and compassion. The images invite us to share moments of connection between artist and subject, at ease in each other’s company. EXHIBITION - COMING SOON This upcoming exhibition celebrates the extraordinary practice and influence of Rose Finn-Kelcey (1945–2014). A key figure in the performance and feminist art scene in Britain for over four decades, her work is intimately concerned with social dialogue, populism, activism, and how these tools of communication intersect with complex systems of power. Life, Belief and Beyond specifically focuses on Finn-Kelcey’s explorations of power, performance, political commentary, and perceptions of the self, belief and spirituality. TALK Space is not primarily about astronauts and aliens, but rather a host to hidden technologies that are present and valued in our lives every day.
TALK Drawing on her image-making workshop with artist Aleksandra Mir, Physics and Astronomy Professor Jayanne English discusses the scientific foundations of the bold colour images from telescopes. Are these snapshots documenting physical reality, or are they just artistic digital spacescapes? Modern Art Oxford recommends ... Cowley Road Carnival Oxford's annual street party is back!
