With excellent weather participants thoroughly enjoyed this annual event. This hike raised money for Barnardos in memory of our colleague, the late Helen Kane, a dedicated Receptionist at The High School who died in 2012. We would like to thank everyone who sponsored our pupils in support of this fundraising event in memory of our dear friend. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Form 4 Rock-PopOne of the most thrilling opportunities presented to Form 4 pupils is the Rock-Pop show. During this biannual module, a cohort of musicians and singers collaborate to create a band, dedicating their efforts to crafting an entertaining 40-minute live performance. Throughout the term, the group practised and honed eight songs, showcasing a diverse range of genres from popular ballads to pieces spanning pop and rock. The enthusiastic audience sang along at all the appropriate moments. This event proved to be a beneficial and positive learning experience for everyone involved. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() International Karate Representation![]() We have received exciting updates from the World Karate Federation Youth League in Venice over the weekend, where High School pupils Asha Reen and Alex Hennigan proudly represented Ireland on the global karate stage. Asha secured an impressive 7th place, while Alex achieved a commendable 9th place. This remarkable accomplishment at such a high level is a source of immense pride for these athletes and The High School. Congratulations to both of them! Form 1 Wood TechnologyIn a recent Wood Technology class, Form 1 pupils successfully completed bookends, just in time for the festive season. This woodworking project required steady hands and gave them valuable insights into the art of woodworking. Their fine completed projects are not only useful but also reflect their growing proficiency in Wood Technology. Well done to all! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Form 6 Christmas Dinner![]() Form 6 pupils embraced the festive spirit with a special Christmas lunch this week, complete with a charitable donation in support of St Luke's Hospital. Prior to gathering in The Reynolds Hall for food and lively conversation, we began the festivities with a spirited charity walk to Zion Parish National School, to deliver personalised Christmas cards and candy canes to the pupils and staff. Each Form 6 pupil was assigned a pupil or member of staff and once we had gathered in The Reynolds Hall, we each wrote a Christmas message enclosed in an envelope with a candy cane. We added an extra dash of joy by donning cheerful Christmas jumpers to celebrate our last festive season at The High School. ![]() ![]() Form 1 Religious EducationIn Religious Education class this week, Form 1 pupils had the opportunity to light the Menorah candles, a ritual associated with the celebration of Hanukkah.
