The extensive CET programme, which also included streams hosted by the AOP and the BCLA, received highly favourable comments from delegates and included keynote lectures delivered by Dr Nicola Lagan and Dr Maggie Woodhouse.
A pre-conference golf tournament sponsored by Oakley, held at the Whitefield Golf Club on Saturday 19 September, was a great success enriched by autumn sunshine and the pre-conference welcome reception that followed in the evening at Manchester Central Library ensured that the conference commenced in a relaxed and convivial spirit.
The well-attended 2015 ABDO gala dinner sponsored by Essilor, held at The Midland Hotel on Sunday 20 September, was lively and at times emotional during the special awards presentations. Past ABDO President James Russell received The Hamblin Memorial Prize, the ABDO Area Prize went to Brenda Rennie, an Honorary Fellowship was presented Dispensing Optics’ Deanne Gray and Life Membership was awarded to Optical Confederation Chairman Chris Hunt.
The gala dinner also featured a ‘trailer’ heralding première the 2015 ABDO INSIGHT programme produced by the Association in partnership with ITN Productions.
