Electronic referrals directly from your clinical software

Oculo Optometrist Healthlink Smart Form is available to all Best Practice, Genie, Medical Director and Medtech Evolution General Practices. Through HealthLink, the Oculo Optometrist SmartForm referral allows the GP to easily locate and refer to an optometrist or ophthalmologist within close proximity to the patient to enhance your patient’s access to eye care for regular vision check-ups. The SmartForm has been specifically designed to help those patients with diabetes or other potential eye conditions get their recommended eye examinations, and help doctors improve the diagnosis rates of glaucoma across Australia. Oculo is being used by over 2200 optometrists and 580 ophthalmologists in Australia and include large optometry groups such as OPSM or SpecSavers. Where appropriate, the return of any correspondence from the Optometrist will flow securely to the referring doctor via the HealthLink removing the need for paper, scanning, faxing and filing.

Healthcare Communication Scale - participate by completing an anonymous survey

Do you ever wonder whether some of your clients or patients might experience communication challenges when they give or receive information in healthcare? Having quick insight into clients’ perceptions might help primary and mental healthcare practitioners and their clients to address communication challenges. In a research PhD project, we’ve developed a brief questionnaire that healthcare clients could complete in order to identify potential communication problems. We’d like to tell you a bit about this new questionnaire and receive your feedback on how useful it might or might not be to you and your practice.

Sydney addiction seminars - depot Buprenorphine: will it be a game changer?

Perhaps the greatest disincentive to opioid pharmacotherapy for opioid dependence is the need for supervised dosing, which is inconvenient, time-consuming, expensive and often poorly compatible with life activities that hallmark “recovery”. Two depot Buprenorphine products, Buvidal® (Camurus) and Sublocade® (Indivior), have been submitted for consideration of listing under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme in Australia. How and when will these treatments be rolled out in Australia? Are there any down sides to this new treatment modality? Will it change people’s preference for treatment medication? How will dose tapering towards eventual “graduation” be accomplished? These and other questions will be dealt with in this seminar.
