Reminder: Entries are due on October 19 (2 Weeks!)

Calling data scientists, bioinformaticians, mathematical modellers and other problem-solvers! Help answer a crucial question in global health security: where was this sequence engineered?

In partnership with iGEM's Safety & Security Program, altLabs is soliciting improved and inventive solutions the problem of genetic engineering attribution. The challenge offers prizes for lab-of-origin prediction accuracy and creative real-world application, with a total prize pool of $60,000.

The deadline for entering the Prediction Track is October 19, and anyone who beats a BLAST benchmark in the Prediction Track will be invited to compete in the Innovation Track. To help you get started, the contest website has a complete walkthrough of a benchmark approach using random forests.
