Registrations Open for the Mayor's Business Lunch

Culinary Caledon, Empowering Youth is the theme for the 2016 Fall Mayor’s Business Lunch. We chose this theme to highlight Caledon youth and our growing, dynamic culinary industry.

Here’s what you can expect: a culinary experience featuring locally sourced foods prepared and presented by the culinary arts students at

  • St. Michael Catholic SS
  • Robert F. Hall Catholic SS
  • Mayfield SS and
  • King's College School

You will have the opportunity to share in conversation and network with business professionals from here in Caledon and across the Region. And, you will hear and get tips from a panel of speakers on the growing culture of the food industry. From food production to the culinary arts to the entrepreneurial spirit required for many start-ups.

Municipal Agriculture Economic Development Forum

The Town of Caledon has partnered with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs to host the Municipal Agriculture Economic Development Forum on November  2 and 3. This event is an opportunity for those involved in municipal and local economic development that have agriculture and food (farming, food processing, agri-tourism, bio-fuel) in their portfolio to network, share successes, and learn more about programs targeted to the agricultural sector.

Darta Fleet Solutions and D&R Electronics

On September 14 Mayor and Councillors were on hand to congratulate Darta Fleet Solutions on the opening of their new facility located at 91 Simona Drive, Bolton. Specializing in services associated with the installation of emergency vehicle equipment, Darta Fleet Solutions has experienced considerable business growth prompting their move to this much larger facility.

The event was also a celebration of the 40th anniversary of D&R Electronics, a design and manufacturing business on the leading edge in emergency sound, lighting, mounting technology and storage solutions.

Drake Apothecary

On October 2 Mayor and Councillors congratulated Drake Apothecary on the opening of their new expanded store located at 19 Queen Street N, Bolton. This beautifully renovated space is a welcome addition to the historic downtown core of Bolton offering handcrafted herbal and aromatherapy health and beauty care products.

Congratulations to Headwaters Tourism

Congratulations to our partners at the Headwaters Tourism Association for continued recognition of the work being done to support the tourism sector in our region. 2016 Headwaters Tourism Awards - Nominations NOW OPEN

Every year Headwaters Tourism celebrates excellence in the tourism and hospitality industry during the regional Headwaters Tourism Awards ceremony.  Headwaters Tourism is currently seeking nominations for the 2016 Headwaters Tourism Awards.

Consider submitting nominations in any (or all) of the award categories, and help recognize those businesses or individuals who help showcase the best of Headwaters: Where Ontario Gets Real.

All nominations must be for businesses or individuals from the Headwaters region and for work taking place between October 1, 2015 through to September 30, 2016.

Headwaters Food Charter Survey

 

The Headwaters Food and Farming Alliance (HFFA) has been working with the community and various stakeholders to develop a Food Charter.  As part of the initial phase of this project HFFA is seeking input from the public on the charter’s values and goals. Once all of the feedback has been incorporated a local strategy will be developed to implement actions to achieve the goals.

Lower Your Operating Costs

Enbridge Gas and Hydro One continue to offer incentive programs for making buildings more energy efficient.

Hydro One offers various programs based on the type and size of business operated.

Enbridge Gas offers the Commercial Retrofit Program a tiered incentive structure to reward customers to gain deeper energy efficiency savings based on technologies being implemented.

In addition, the Town of Caledon offers an Energy Efficiency Retrofit Grant Program for Industrial and Commercial property owners as part of the Community Improvement Plans in Bolton, Caledon East and Six Villages.

New Exporters to Border States Program

The International Trade Branch (of the Ontario Ministry of International Trade) offers a practical, interactive and cost-effective program ideally suited to give Ontario manufacturers, distributors, agents and other business professionals the tools they need to easily expand their business interests in the United States.

  • exporting companies with new staff
  • anyone involved in the export process

Key topics include:

  • getting staff across the border
  • U.S. business visa options and immigration requirements

Community Improvement Plans

The Town of Caledon has Community Improvement Plans (CIP) in Bolton, Caledon East and the Six Villages. If you are considering improving or redeveloping your commercial/industrial property and are located in one of these communities you may be eligible for CIP grants. Information about the CIPs is available on our website.
