Trainee Card Changes

From 1st August 2016 new rules will apply to Trainee cards. Trainee cards will only be issued for qualifications leading to a skilled CSCS card. The card will be valid for five years, be non-renewable and require the cardholder to register onto a construction related qualification recognised by CSCS.

Following a report from the HSE saying that construction has higher rates of vibration white finger and carpal tunnel syndrome than any other sector, Reactec have enhanced their software to enable CSCS cards to track a worker’s vibration exposure risk.

CRO changes are coming

Fom 1st october 2015 new measures were introduced that will lead to the eventual withdrawal of the CRO card. The CRO card was intended for occupations without nationally recognised qualifications. On this basis the CRO card does not support industry's desire to qualify the workforce.

You can get CSCS Blue and Gold cards with a City and Guilds of London Institute Craft Certificate. Workers completing an employer sponsored apprenticeship which includes the achievement of a City and Guilds of London Institute Craft or Advanced Craft certificate are eligible for a blue Skilled CSCS card or a gold Advanced Craft card.
