Two headspace centres awarded funding to help youth with severe mental health issues
|
|
| |
headspace Narre Warren and headspace Frankston have received funding from SEMPHN to pilot services for youth with severe mental health conditions.
headspace Narre Warren will pilot services for youth aged 12 – 16 years with severe anxiety and depression who have disengaged with their learning environment. This will be done through assertive outreach, including youth in the under-serviced area of Cardinia, as well as via family inclusion models and other interventions.
headspace Frankston will pilot services for young people aged 12 – 25 years who have complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and/or severe depression and who are resistant to treatment. This will also be done via outreach, including to the under-serviced area of Rosebud, using the Emotional Regulation and Impulse Control (ERIC) model developed by Deakin University, single session family consultation and other interventions.
A closed tender process was used to commission the activities, which will run for one year from July 2017 to June 2018.
