Cheltenham Badlands Update

The Cheltenham Badlands, owned by the Ontario Heritage Trust and managed by the Bruce Trail Conservancy, is currently closed to the public to protect the fragile and picturesque topography of the exposed red shale landscape. The Trust and its partners have been actively planning the future of the Badlands for several years. Public consultation opportunities, which began in the fall of 2015, continue to advance the Master Planning process. It is anticipated that the draft Master Plan will be presented at a public meeting in September, 2016, with possible approval of the Plan in the spring of 2017.

On June 9, 2016 Peel Regional Council approved the release of previously approved funds for construction of a parking lot at the Badlands site. It is anticipated that construction will begin in the fall of 2016.

Canada 150 in Headwaters

Canada 150

Headwaters Tourism (Caledon, Dufferin & Erin) has developed a planning calendar for Canada 150 celebrations taking place in the region.

The purpose of the shared calendar is to encourage event organizers to consider events throughout the entire year and avoid challenges with too many activities happening on the same dates.

Event organizers are welcome to not only submit their events by email to Headwaters for inclusion in the planning calendar, but also to review the Canada 150 planning calendar before booking your event date.
