GREENHILL FUNDING ANNOUNCED

We had some great news yesterday, with the Federal Government announcing an $8 million election commitment to the Greenhill Recreation Precinct.

Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg made the announcement in Wallan saying the $8 million investment would go towards construction works and help support delivery of a gymnastics facility at 300 Northern Highway.

This investment is a key kick-starter for one of the most significant projects in the region.

The annual City Nature Challenge began today.

This 4-day biodiversity blitz is a global effort, and we're aiming to record as many species as possible right here in Mitchell.

We're encouraging you to get out into your garden or visit a local park, creek or nature reserve to take some photos of wild animals and plants and help put Mitchell Shire on the biodiversity map.

OUTDOOR CINEMA Wallan event postponed

Mother Nature has not been kind to us and we've had to postpone tomorrow's Autumn Movie Nights Under The Stars event in Wallan.

But don't worry, we'll be back at Hadfield Park on Friday 20 May.

The next outdoor cinema event will be in Broadford on Saturday 6 May. Join us from 5pm at Lions Park for a great evening out with friends or family, with food vendors, roaming entertainment and SING 2 on the big screen under the night sky. Entry is free.

COUNCIL CONSULTATIONS
Have your say on Engaging Mitchell website

We have a few consultations open at the moment, and we would like to hear your views and ideas. We're currently seeking input on:

  • Beveridge Recreation Reserve master plan: The reserve (pictured above) is undergoing a master planning process. This will determine what capital works are required to establish a park suitable for the significant population increase projected for the area, but also facilitate works that protect, retain or reveal its history and character. Closing 9am, Monday 23 May.
  • Emu Flat boundary proposal: We're proposing to define Emu Flat as a locality. Emu Flat sits centrally between Tooborac, Pyalong and Nulla Vale. Closing 9am, Monday 23 May.
  • Beveridge road renaming proposal: We're proposing to rename part of Arrowsmith Street in Beveridge, which is currently split by the Hume Freeway. The part of Arrowsmith Street that is to the east of the freeway is developed however the part to the west of the freeway is currently unmade. Closing 9am, Monday 30 May.

You can find out more and have your say on our Engaging Mitchell consultation website.
