Voter Registration and Turnout Trends in Metro Atlanta

With Election Day just a month away, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is taking a timely look at voter data from the last three Presidential elections in the 23-county Atlanta region, with statewide comparisons and detail for individual counties. We crunched the numbers from the Georgia Secretary of State’s office and found some fascinating trends.

ARC Trip Planning Tool Helps You Get Where You Need to Go

Getting around metro Atlanta can be complicated, especially for those don’t have a car or don’t drive. SimplyGetThere.org, ARC’s new web-based trip planning tool, makes the process much easier. With a few clicks, users can customize their next trip by choosing travel modes that work best for them. Options range from public transportation to specialized services for people with mobility challenges.

ARC's Sustainable Connections Internship Program is a win-win for university students and local governments. The program connects students pursuing environmental and sustainability studies with local governments in need of help with sustainability programming assistance.

Georgia Declares Drought Response

Georgia's dry spring and summer have underscored the importance of water conservation in the region. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division has declared a Level 1 drought response across 53 counties. This includes all 15 counties in the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District (Metro Water District).

ARC Honored with 2016 GPA Awards

ARC was honored recently with two awards from the Georgia Chapter of the American Planning Association (GPA). The 2016 GPA awards recognize outstanding work in the planning profession in the state of Georgia. ARC received the following awards:

  • Outstanding Planning Process - ARC's community engagement program, New Voices: Millennial Advisory Panel
  • Outstanding Planning Document - ARC's bike and pedestrian plan, Walk! Bike! Thrive!

The ARC board recently adopted the Aerotropolis Atlanta Blueprint to guide the Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance’s efforts to transform the area around Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport into a regional economic powerhouse.

Teachers, parents, students: It's time for the annual Middle School Water Essay contest. Middle school students can earn cash prizes for their winning essays about the importance of water conservation in our region. Deadline to submit essays is Oct. 21.

Storm the Watershed! A new 15K/5K Trail Run and Water Festival is coming to Henry County's Cubihatcha Outdoor Education Center on Oct. 22

Atlanta Regional Workforce Development Board's Mobile Career Lab

 
Mobile Career Resource Center

The ARWDB Mobile Career Resource Center is a 13-station, state-of-the-art, fully accessible computer lab. The center offers an array of services, a private interview area and classroom space. To see where the mobile lab will be in October, check the Mobile Career Lab Schedule.
