Starter Company Program
Starter Company
is an entrepreneurship program designed to help young people in Ontario start a small business with mentorship and money – up to $5,000. The program is funded through the Province of Ontario’s Youth Jobs Strategy, and delivered through regional or municipal offices like the Caledon Small Business Enterprise Centre. It’s one of the many resources entrepreneurs with plans to launch or grow a business can tap into. The Equine Connection, profiled below, is one such business that has benefited from the Starter Company program.

The Equine Connection is a therapeutic riding and equine assisted learning centre located in the heart of Caledon. They work with their clients to help them discover and develop their full potential through the use of horses. They provide both mounted and ground-based sessions on a one-on-one or group basis depending on the needs and goals of their clients. As the regional destination marketing organization for the Towns of Caledon, Erin, Mono & Shelburne, and all of Dufferin County, Headwaters Tourism will continue to work with municipal partners, as well as tourism operators and community and business organizations, in order to support strong & viable communities throughout Headwaters.

Ontario Trail User Survey
The province recently released the 2014 Ontario Trail User Survey that highlighted the estimated economic benefit of hiking trail use in Ontario in 2014 was $1.365 billion, and that survey respondents highlighted trail usage improved mental health (91%), physical health (90%) and sense of well-being (90%).
