RECENT HIGHLIGHTS
IT WAS FAIR WEATHER FOR CAREER PLANNING
Over 100 SOA students of all levels, resumes in hand and dressed for success, met and networked with 17 US firms looking to hire Architecture majors for internships and full-time positions last Thursday April 3.  The School’s Annual Career Fair in the Hurricane 100 Room at the Bank United Center provided an opportunity to get acquainted and become familiar with the different firm specialties and number of available positions.  The day after, the firms scheduled individual interviews throughout the School.  For more information, call 305-284-3731 or visit www.miami.edu/toppel. 

SOA ALUMNI AND CLASS OF ‘14 NETWORK AT ALUMNI CENTER
School of Architecture Interim Dean Denis Hector introduced a new alumni activity to the School and the University’s Alumni Association by inviting local alumni to network with the SOA class of 2014 at a reception at the Newman Alumni Center on the evening of March 25.  Over 100 architects and future architects became acquainted, renewed friendships, and established an annual tradition.

URBAN MORPHOLOGY AND DESIGN: ROME IN MIAMI
On April 8, 9 and 10, the University of Miami School of Architecture and Sapienza University of Rome will co-host a three-part international seminar Urban Morphology and Design: Rome in Miami.

KATHY WHEELER INVITES YOU TO YOGA AT SOA
Beginning this Wednesday, April 9, Assistant Professor Kathy Wheeler invites students, faculty and staff to join her Kundalini yoga class.  Wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat, towel, or blanket to sit on.  Donations for student scholarships will be the fee. IDP AND ESSENTIAL LICENSING
This Thursday, April 9, our AIAS chapter is sponsoring the Intern Development Program (IDP) Presentation and Lunch.  Kimberly Tuttle, AIA from NCARB in Washington and Associate Professor Allan Shulman will speak on the required comprehensive experience that is essential for the independent practice of architecture and licensure. NCARB (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards) visits architecture schools around the country to enroll students in the program so that they will be ready for their employment upon graduation. Be sure to sign up for the presentation in Academic Services and click on IDP Guidelines before the meeting.  Rinker Classroom, 10:30 to noon.

TASTE OF HISTORIC DOWNTOWN MIAMI 2014
This Friday, April 11 from 6 to 9 p.m., fans of historic Miami buildings can enjoy the architecture and stories of Historic Downtown Miami.  The Downtown Miami Partnership, Inc. and Dade Heritage Trust invite you to rediscover the buildings of the past through self-guided tours, music and entertainment, tasty appetizers and a unique peek into Miami’s architectural heritage and history.  The buildings on the tour are the Ingraham Building (1927), La Epoca (1936), the Alfred I.
