Issue No. 2 March 2017 We’re excited to be bringing you the 67th annual NZ Open Dance Championships. It will be at the same great venue, with the same awesome sound and lighting crew, the team from Magic Dance Music, and DanceSport Live providing the scrutineering services. We've listenedWell, what a week! The NZFDT executive has fielded lots of calls since our newsletter went out on Monday. Understandably, there’s been tremendous concern about the requirement for Masters dancers to choose one age division to compete in at this year’s NZ Open Dance Championships. This was not a decision the executive made lightly. So, they have taken all the feedback received over the past few days very seriously. As a result, the executive has overturned their original decision. In other words, as has always been the case in New Zealand, Masters dancers will be able to dance in their own age division plus one other. Given this, there will no longer be the extra added events of Open Masters 1 + 2 Latin and New Vogue. The Open Masters 1 + 2 Ballroom event remains. Time constraints are still a very real concern. However, removing the open juvenile, junior and youth events, as well as the Adult 10 Dance (as outlined in our previous newsletter), will help with this. The syllabus has been updated to reflect these changes. If you’ve previously downloaded a copy, please make sure you replace it with the version dated 29 March 2017.
