Let us welcome Otis College of Art and Design to the Climate Leadership Network. Congratulations on signing the Climate Commitment. We are a network of more than 600 higher education institutions spread across 50 States, and we are happy to welcome you to our ranks. Paid Internship Opportunities at Second Nature
Fall Internships

Second Nature is seeking applicants for a Climate Programs Internship and an Events and Operations Intern to support the planning and logistics of the 2018 Higher Education Climate Leadership Summit.

These are entry level positions and will be based in the Downtown Boston office of Second Nature. Work schedules will be flexible, with approximately a 12-15 hour a week commitment. Interns will be under direct supervision by Second Nature staff.

These are paid internship, and can also be completed for credit. The internships are for a period of 3 months, depending on candidate availability and would start in late August/early September.

Energy Policy and Advocacy
Second Nature in Partnership with Advanced Energy Economy (AEE)

Second Nature is working collaboratively with Advanced Energy Economy (AEE) to advocate for energy policies that positively impact higher education, analyze the impact of energy policies at colleges and universities, and convene individuals from both constituencies to strategize on how to affect policy change at the state level.

AEE is an organization of businesses using policy advocacy, analysis, and education to bring about a prosperous economy based on secure, clean, affordable energy. Second Nature and AEE will work together in three primary areas, Advocacy, Education and Analysis.

Campus Energy Infrastructure: Challenges, Solutions & Financing

Second Nature and the New Jersey Higher Education Partnership for Sustainability (NJHEPS) are collaborating with industry experts to offer a regional workshop to help colleges and universities identify and finance solutions to common energy challenges. Participants of this hands-on workshop will share and learn about energy efficiency and clean energy strategies that can help their schools meet budgetary, infrastructure and greenhouse gas reduction goals. This event will take place on September 22, 2017, at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Presenters and facilitators include representatives from Ramapo College, NJHEPS, Siemens Building Technologies, Metrus Energy, and Second Nature.

We Are Still In - Higher Ed Edition

With waning federal support of climate research, climate solutions, and climate leadership (most recently exemplified in the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris Agreement), the higher education sector has stepped into a new climate action role through an emerging subnational coalition called We Are Still In (WASI). Understand how the Climate Leadership Network will continue to lead higher education’s piece in this coalition going forward.

Intentionally Designed Endowment Roundtable

Building on the success of previous events, the Intentional Endowments Network, in partnership with the Center for Responsible Business at Berkeley-Haas and BlackRock, is pleased to host an Intentionally Designed Endowment Roundtable for endowment decision-makers and stakeholders from institutions interested in enhancing their leadership on sustainable investing. This event will take place at the Center for Responsible Business in Berkeley-Haas, and BlackRock, Friday, September 8, 2017, Berkeley, CA.

Renewable energy is truly having its moment in the sun. One doesn’t have to look hard to find solar panels on the neighbors’ roofs, majestic wind turbines popping up across the Great Plains, or that new Tesla you’ve seen rolling around town. Even major Fortune 500 companies are buying clean energy at a record pace to power data centers and factories around the country.

The newest arrival to the clean tech party, however, just happens to be one of the best suited to capture the long-term, low-cost benefits of renewable energy: higher education.
