Nominations for the Australian of the Year Awards are now open.Closing Date: 31 July 2020
Purpose: To recognise Australians who have made a significant contribution to the nation and serve as an inspiration for all Australians. Each year, nominations are accepted for the four award categories: - Australian of the Year
- Senior Australian of the Year
- Young
Australian of the Year
- Australia’s Local Hero

Energy Efficient Communities Program - Small Business GrantsAmount: $5,000 - $20,000. Maximum of three projects funded per electorate
Closing Date: 26 August 2020
Funding Provider: Department of Industry, Science, Energy & Resources
Purpose: To assist businesses and community organisations to improve energy efficiency practices. The intended outcomes of the program are:
▪ reduced power bills for business and community organisations
▪ emissions abatement. There are two streams to the program:
Community Organisations stream to help community organisations save energy through:
- energy generation and storage systems
- equipment upgrades that reduce energy consumption
- energy audits. Business stream to help businesses save energy through:
- equipment upgrades that reduce energy consumption, excluding energy generation equipment such as solar photovoltaic panels
- energy & emissions monitoring & management systems to better manage energy use

New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS)Amount: Undisclosed

Funding Provider: Department of Education
Purpose: Provide jobseekers with support to start and run small businesses. If you are an eligible jobseeker and are interested in starting and running a small business, you may be able to access assistance through the NEIS.
NEIS can provide you with accredited small business training, business advice and mentoring, as well as ongoing income support for up to 52 weeks. For more information: Click here
Small Business COVID-19 Recovery grantAmount: $500 - $3000
Closing Date: 16 August 2020
Funding Provider: NSW Government
Purpose: To help small businesses meet the costs of safely reopening or up-scaling operations. If your small business or not-for-profit organisation has experienced a decline in turnover as a result of COVID-19, you may be eligible for a small business recovery grant. This grant helps small businesses meet the costs of safely reopening or up-scaling operations. These expenses include, but are not limited to: - fit-out changes and temporary physical changes (for example, plastic barriers at checkouts)
- staff training and counselling
- business advice and continuity planning
- cleaning products and additional cleaning services
- additional equipment necessary to comply with social distancing or other public health measures
- marketing, communications and advertising
- digital solutions (for example, e-commerce or business websites).
This grant can only be used for purchases of eligible expenses made from 1 July 2020, and only where no other government support is available. For more information: Click here
Lake Macquarie Youth Art ChallengeAmount: 1 x set of Beats EP On-Ear Headphones valued at $139, 5 x $20 vouchers for the Sculpture Café at MAC

Purpose: Has COVID-19 led you to explore your own backyard? Here’s your chance to get outside and win. MAC is running a Youth Art Challenge for people aged 12-24. Simply create a natural land artwork, using found, natural materials such as sticks & stones, leaves & flowers, sand & seaweed, anything you can find. Lake Macquarie Traffic Signal ProjectAmount: $600 to complete the artwork on one traffic signal box or $1,000 for groups of two traffic signal boxes

Purpose: This is a great opportunity for local artists to showcase their work, get creative and help beautify intersections across the city while being paid to do so. Artisits are invited to submit their designs for traffic signal boxes located at Charlestown, Edgeworth, Morisset, Swansea and Windale that reflect the culture of the area. Incubator Support InitiativeAmount: $10,000 - $500,000 for New and Existing Incubators per project. $1,000 - $25,000 for Expert-In-Residence per project.

Purpose: To help innovative start-ups to rapidly transform their ideas into globally competitive businesses by giving them mentorship, funding, resources, knowledge and access to business networks. The first is support for New and Existing Incubators: - To help develop new incubators in regions or sectors with high potential for success in international
trade
- To boost the effectiveness of high performing incubators, including funding support to expand their services and/or develop the innovation ecosystem.
The second is support for Expert-in-Residence: - To provide access
to top quality research, managerial and technical talent through secondments of national or international expert advisers who will improve their chance of commercial success in international markets.

Lake Mac - Skateboarding Web ChampionshipsAmount: $100
Closing Date: 31 July 2020
Funding Provider: Lake Macquarie City Council in collaboration with the Australian Skateboarding Federation
Purpose: To help organisations inspire the principles of health and wellbeing, fitness for life, family and community. The rules are simple, skateboarders can upload up to five videos that feature their best tricks. From kick flips to ollies or any flat ground trick that shows off individual style. If you’re a local skater this is your chance to show off your abilities and compete against other skaters your age to claim the competition crown. When you sign up you will be slotted into your age division with a winner picked from each group. The videos will be judged by professional skateboarders, Tommy Fynn, Aimee Massie and Beau Hinge. Westfund Community Grants Program Amount: $2,500 - $10,000
Closing Date: 14 August 2020
Funding Provider: Westfund Health Insurance
Purpose: To help organisations inspire the principles of health and wellbeing, fitness for life, family and community. $170,000 in grants to eligible organisations throughout Australia. The Westfund Community Grants Program also incorporates the Here for Hearts initiative, which provides access to defibrillators. Grants of $2,500 and a one off grant of $10,000 will be subject to a public vote. For more information: Click here
Community Sport RecoveryAmount: $1,000 will be provided to 12,500 local sporting clubs

Funding Provider: NSW Government
Purpose: The recovery package will help get millions of NSW residents back participating in activities they love in a COVID safe environment. Payments to local clubs and associations can be used for fixed costs such as insurances, power, telephone and internet, fixed vehicle or equipment costs (lease, registration), and other base operating costs including affiliation fees, EFTPOS, banking fees and IT support arrangements and essential equipment. Community Preschool - Start Strong Capital WorksAmount: $10,000,000 total pool

Purpose: To increase the number of 600 hour community preschool places available in areas of need and demand. Eligible services can apply for funding through this program to: - Build a new centre-based community preschool
- Extend an existing centre-based community preschool
- Renovate existing or new premises for a centre-based community preschool
- Purchase a motor vehicle for an existing mobile preschool
- Respond to a crisis situation with a capital works project

Purpose: To support approved service providers to keep facilities open, those who are at risk of permanent closure and to support the setup of new community services. It applies where a service is: - At risk of closure due to an unforeseen event or circumstance, such as a natural disaster, or extreme weather
event
- At risk of permanent closure due to another event or circumstance, where that closure would result in a lack of suitable child care for the community, or
- Seeking to commence a new service in a community where another service has closed, resulting in a lack of suitable child care. Child care services who are approved for Child Care Subsidy (CCS) are eligible to apply for funding where there is a financial need in order to
continue to provide child care in the community.

Tucker Foundation 2020 Amount: $25,000

Funding Provider: The Tucker Foundation
Purpose: To support registered charitable organisations who are actively making a positive difference in the lives of humans, animals and the natural environment. Many of their grants have been awarded to small scale grassroots groups, who may otherwise struggle to attract the funding of larger more prominent organisations. For more information: Click here
Active Kids Rebate ProgramAmount: $100 vouchers for two separate school-enrolled children

Purpose: Families can now access two separate $100 vouchers for each school-enrolled child, per calendar year, as to reduce the cost of sport registration or membership for after-school, weekend and structured fitness or physical activity. For more information: Click here
Creative Kids ProgramAmount: $100 vouchers for two separate school-enrolled children

Purpose: To make it easier for school-aged children and young people to get involved in creative and cultural activities. Vouchers can be used to contribute to registration, participation and tuition costs for performing arts, visual arts, coding, languages, literature, music and other creative and cultural activities, including Aboriginal cultural experiences. Australian Geographic Society 2020 SponsorshipAmount: $10,000

Purpose: To assist with conservation and environmental initiatives. Suitable for Australian scientists, community organisations and individuals developing projects in Australia to assist with conservation and environmental initiatives, often at a grassroots level; as well as Australian adventures, and scientific and environmental research. Central Coast Council - Working Together Staying Strong Funding Support ProgramAmount: $1,000 to $10,000

Funding Provider: Central Coast Council
Purpose: To assist Central Coast community groups and organisations to deliver critical support services to vulnerable and at-risk groups in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly those with projects that directly support the physical health and mental well-being, social connection and safety of vulnerable and at-risk groups. For example: - Food hamper preparation and delivery
- Swags for rough
sleepers
- Mental health support
- Counselling services
- Organisational volunteer support
- Helping people get around (e.g. transport support)
- Small equipment purchases (e.g. to facilitate education, telehealth etc.).

The Sunrise ProjectAmount: $5,000
Closing Date: Ongoing
Funding Provider: The Sunrise Project
Purpose: To recognise outstanding individuals and groups that have made a significant contribution to community life. There are five categories available: - Drive the shift to renewable energy and/or keep fossil fuels in the ground
- Help build the capacity or community groups for the longer term
- Support small community groups that do not have other funding
- Can demonstrate a clear strategy that will result in real-world outcome.
