Dear Investor,

We are thrilled to announce that the SVA Diversified Impact Fund (the Fund) achieved final close at $15 million in June 2018, with the support of 12 new investors and three new philanthropic supporters, the Yarranabbe Foundation, the Maple-Brown Family Foundation and the Roberts Family. This brings the total number of investors to 63 along with 11 philanthropic supporters.

It is with great pleasure that we announce our first equity investment - Maths Pathway. You can read more below about this ed tech company and how it's changing the way maths is taught in our schools.

2018 to date: We have approved seven investments including the Fund's three seed investments and Maths Pathway. The unit price as at 30 September 2018 is $0.3843.

We look forward to sharing more information on the other three approved investments as they reach financial close.

Our ultimate goal is to create social impact in Australia by investing in social purpose organisations that are post-revenue and ready to scale. Thank you again for being part of this journey.

We hope you enjoy this first newsletter. The first annual report will be released in October 2019.

Yours sincerely,
Michael, Alex and Nathan

Maths Pathway equity investment

The Fund has invested $1 million equity in Maths Pathway, an education services start-up and certified B Corporation changing the way students learn maths. It is an innovative approach to teaching maths that leverages technology and classroom best-practice to teach to each student’s point of need. This is vital in today’s schools with a vast spread of student maths comprehension in the typical classroom.

Its online platform provides individualised lessons with rich data to inform explicit teaching and opportunities for timely feedback interventions. The teacher development program helps teachers bring practices that have the greatest impact on student learning to the classroom. The program leads to a maths growth rate twice that of a traditional classroom, according to data collected by Maths Pathway in 2017.

The investment will be used to improve classroom outcomes through product improvements, driving student engagement through interactive content and providing teachers even greater access to student data and planning information.
