Say Goodbye to Google Authorship

Google has recently announced the end of its Authorship program. For real estate professionals, this SEO tool can no longer be counted on to promote one's brand and thought leadership.

The idea behind Google Authorship was to influence page rankings based on the reputation of its authors. This was accomplished by using digital signatures. So in theory, trusted authors would receive a higher score than someone who hadn’t yet earned their reputation.

While Authorship is down-and-out at the moment, the concept may be too good to stay down for long. We anticipate a revamped program to take its place, but current branding strategy must prepare for life without Authorship in the time being.

The Tortoise and the Hare in Social Media

It is always worth remembering that social media success does not happen overnight. Just like in real life, relationships and bonds between you and your audience can take a long time to build.

Too many real estate brands leap into social media marketing with gusto, only to give up shortly afterwards. They give up because they did not have the tens of thousands of Facebook likes and a ton of commissions after their first week.

Be patient and work your strategy for the long haul.

The Power of Kids in Engagement

Are you looking for clever ways to improve your updates and boost engagement? Try using images with children.

Have you seen any cutesy viral videos or memes that include kids? Or do you have any adorable pictures featuring your own children? Share them, as they are always good for a bump in engagement.

If you do this, always keep in mind privacy implications. Make sure you have explicit permission to share an image of a minor. But if this can be obtained, you're sure to get a boost in engagement.
