Facing fire in virtual reality

University of South Australia researchers and the SA Country Fire Service are working together to improve bushfire preparation. Residents, aged over 16 years, can participate in a research project designed to improve awareness about bushfire preparation.

The study involves completing two short surveys and experiencing a 15-minute scenario about bushfire preparedness while wearing a Virtual Reality (VR) headset.

The display will be at Stirling on Friday 7 December, Woodside Tuesday 11 December and Gumeracha Wednesday 12 December.

Book a time here to secure an opportunity to take part.

This Christmas the Adelaide Hills Libraries are taking part in the Give the Gift of Reading program.

Everyone should be able to enjoy reading, regardless of circumstance.

To support this, all you need to do is gift a new book suitable for a child up to 12 years old. Collect an appropriate gift tag from one of our library Christmas trees and hand your donation to a library staff member (unwrapped please!).

Your generous donation will then be distributed to children in need in the community. We have teamed with The Smith Family for the distribution of the books.

Donations can be made at any of the Adelaide Hills Libraries, including the mobile library, from the beginning of November. All donations must be received by Monday 10 December.
