Walters Cove Resort - Summer 2015

As many of you may know, Westcoast Resorts and Haida Tourism decided to sell Walters Cove Resort last year. We have spent the last year working to improve upon the Walters Cove experience, and we trust that our changes will make your fishing trips with us better than ever!

In this edition of our newsletter we have introduced two of our key staff members who many of you will recognize from Westcoast Resorts. We have also highlighted some of the improvements that we have made to the resort, and included a couple of the specials that we are currently offering for our 2015 trips. 
 
 
 

Paul Dowler, General Manager

Paul Dowler was the manager of Walters Cove under Westcoast Resorts ownership. He has joined the Walters Cove team and is ensuring continuity in management at the resort. Paul has over 27 years of experience in the Sport Fishing Industry. He spent over a decade at Westcoast Resorts, in various positions ranging from Fishing Guide to Lodge Manager. During his time at Westcoast Resorts he managed both the Whale Channel/Milbanke Sound and Walters Cove Locations. 
 
 
 

Gwen Donaldson,  Assistant Manager

Gwen joined the Walters Cove team in the summer of 2014. Gwen has spent most of her life on the water,  working in both the Commercial and Sport Fishing industries. Gwen also comes to Walters Cove Resort from Westcoast Resorts.  She spent 5 years at Whale Channel/ Milbanke Sound filling a variety of positions such as a Dockhand, First Aid Attendant and Photographer. We are very excited for her to be joining the Walters Cove Resort team as assistant manager. 
 
 

Grady White Boats 

We have upgraded our fishing vessels this year, and we are super excited to introduce our new fleet of 23 ft Grady Whites! Our boats have been customized to include a galley area and inboard flush toilets.  They have brand new 300HP Suzuki Main engines and 20HP kickers to get you where you need to go. We can't wait to get these beauties on the water this summer!

Abel Reels

After much deliberation, we decided to bring Abel Reels to Walters Cove Resort . These reels are made in the USA, and perfectly suited for the Salmon fishing that we do in Kyuquot. We are now one of the only resorts in BC using Abel Reels, and we retail them in our store. We are very excited to be partnered with Abel, and we feel that this reel will help you have an unbeatable Salmon fishing experience. 
 
 
 

Avet Reels

This year, we decided to dramatically up our game on the Halibut fishing front. We have brought in Avet Reels, which are made in the USA and designed for deep blue-water fishing. We wanted to make halibut fishing as exciting and enjoyable as possible. We will also be using these Avets for Albacore Tuna, which is a fast paced, exciting and rare fishing opportunity in Canada. Talk to us about booking a trip in August for the best chance to catch tuna!
