Volunteering at Bike Town

Bike Town benefits from the input of our wonderful volunteers, helping with everything from supporting promotional events and guided rides, to collecting and stripping bicycles. We also have retail and administration work experience opportunities.

An interest in cycling is advantageous but not essential, although spending time with us is bound to result in a love of cycling!

We'll make sure you receive the support and training needed to thrive in the role, and most importantly, make sure there is an endless supply of tea or coffee during your time with us!

If you're interested in volunteering at Bike Town you can call us on 0141 646 0123 or email biketown@healthynhappy.org.uk

Other Cycling News

With Pedal on Parliament (POP) now in its sixth year, and the Scottish local authority elections looming, POP organisers are ringing the changes with four mass rides in four of Scotland’s cities: on Saturday 22nd April there will be simultaneous rides in Edinburgh, Inverness and Aberdeen, and on Sunday 23rd April POP takes to the streets of Glasgow.

On Sunday 23rd April join CamGlen Bike Town's feeder ride from our unit in Rutherglen to the POP starting point at Glasgow Green. We'll depart at 12 noon to give us plenty of time to get to Glasgow Green for the POP 1pm start time. Bike Town will be open from 11am on the Sunday morning until the ride departs.

Cycling with Children

Now the Easter holidays are upon us and children are on their two week break from school, you may be thinking about going out on a family cycle ride.

If you've never done this before, taking your children out on their bikes can be daunting. Luckily there is some fantastic advice online to help you prepare and make the most of the experience.

Sustrans have a range of articles on their website, providing advice on a range of relevant topics, including 'The benefits of family cycling', 'What you need to carry your toddler on a bike', 'Cycling safety for children' and 'Where to cycle with kids'.

The Cycling UK website is also worth a vist for their 'A guide to going on a bike ride with children'.

You can also visit us for advice on family cycling and to see our range of refurbished children's bicycles at affordable prices and other cycling products to help you and your family get into cycling.

Happy cycling, from the Bike Town team.
