Black History MonthAs we observe Black History Month, we continue our journey in reflecting on our commitment to learning, teaching, and sharing, we would like to help highlight some events from the UCSF Multicultural Center and resources that can help us build a more welcoming environment. Some featured resources are the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Training, the UCSF Office of Diversity and Outreach website where we can learn more about topics around diversity and inclusion. Lunar New YearFebruary 12 also marked the beginning of the Lunar New Year, with 2021 being the Year of the Ox. There are many variations on how different cultures celebrate, but the core of these traditions are about family, luck, health, and wealth. Wishing you all a lucky 2021! Upcoming Events Staff Resource DayCommunity Building for Women in Tech: Our StoryThis event is part of our 2021 Virtual Staff Resource Days. In this session, the leaders of WIT@UCSF will discuss their journey in becoming a Staff Recognized Organization. February 19, 2-3pm PST International Women's DayIn collaboration with Women of UCSF Health, we will be screening the movie Picture A Scientist on March 5. More details coming soon! Upcoming UCSF Events Machine Learning with Python and Scikit-LearnFriday, February 19, 10am-1pm PST This workshop will provide a review of basic machine learning concepts, and will introduce Python and scikit-learn tools for machine learning. Emphasis will be on the programming work involved in preparing data, populating and building a ML model using scikit-learn libraries, and reading results. 2021 Research Data Series: EMERSE and Exploring UCSF Clinical NotesWednesday, February 24, 1-2 pm PST The Research Data Guild has put together a webinar on how to access a large set of 100+ million clinical notes from the UCSF Electronic Health Record available for research. In this webinar, we will describe the data, how to apply for access, and provide a quick demo of how EMERSE works.
