An Arab-American Heritage Collection

Curated by Morayo Faleyimu

In honor of Arab American Heritage month, Girls Write Now presents "Timelines," a moving collection of poetry, fiction, and memoir on the passage of time.

We occupy many selves over the course of our lifetime. Each new version blossoms, spring-like and heady, as we take in the world with new eyes. The journey is reflected in the familiar faces that surround us: our family, our friends, even, as one of authors writes, the sun and moon.

Who were you yesterday? Who are you today? Who will you be tomorrow?

Prompt of the Week

From Merle Hoffman, Friday Night Salon Teaching Artist

Write about a time when you—not a parent, doctor or other authority— made a decision about your body or your life. It could be the first time you felt that control and responsibility, but it doesn't have to be.

Learn why writing from experience and empathy are powerful tools in fighting for reproductive rights in this Friday Night Salon with activist and author Merle Hoffman.
