The purpose of the fund is to stimulate ‘out of region’ visitation by supporting events that attract expenditure to help replace the loss of international visitors due to COVID travel restrictions. The application portal is now open, and more information on criteria and process may be found here: www.thecoromandel.com. Applications will be received from 9th July 2024. Stargazers B&B hosted visitors from Auckland and England on their tour the night before the event - the tour is highly recommended. Matariki is featured in our winter promotion that highlights wellness, star gazing, food, family, and creative experiences visitors can enjoy. Winter will continue to deliver the opportune time for a dose of The Coromandel Cure providing moments that are #goodforyoursoul Tourism New Zealand’s Chief Executive René de Monchy notes the attraction of a unique indigenous culture and stargazing for travellers to New Zealand - who are often from populated cities that cannot see their dark skies due to light pollution.
