Don’t forget to read each grant thoroughly to see whether your group is eligible. You might be surprised by how many grants are applicable to your organisation. Armistice Centenary Grants ProgramPurpose: To provide funding for local community-based projects and activities which commemorate the end of the First World War The Shortland electorate has $50,000 to fund projects valued between $3,000 and $50,000 to local community organisations, schools and councils to commemorate the Centenary of the Armistice. Examples of projects that could receive funding include:

Active Kids Rebate programPurpose: To help NSW families meet the cost of getting their kids into sport and fitness activities From 31 January 2018, parents will be able to claim up to $100 per school child, per calendar year, as a voucher to reduce the cost of sport registration or membership fees for after-school, weekend and structured fitness or physical activity. For more information: Click here Building Better Regions Fund Community Investments StreamPurpose: To deliver economic and social benefits to regional and remote communities The Community Investments Stream will fund community building activities including, but not limited to, new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans, and leadership and capability building activities. These projects will deliver economic and social benefits to regional and remote communities. The program will fund projects in regional Australia outside the major capital cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra. There are two streams of funding available under the program: Examples of projects that could receive funding include: The Infrastructure Projects Stream will support projects which involve the construction of new infrastructure, or the upgrade or extension of existing infrastructure that provide economic and social benefits to regional and remote areas. The Community Investments Stream will fund community building activities including, but not limited to, new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans, and leadership and capability building activities. These projects will deliver economic and social benefits to regional and remote communities. For more information: Click Here Community Litter GrantsPurpose: To support community clean in your neighbourhood Are you fed up with litter in your local area? Or maybe you’re part of a group who are already doing something to clean up your neighbourhood, but could do with some extra funds to help out? All organisations applying for a grant must first conduct a Local Litter Check, which uses specific methodology to collect information on a litter ‘hotspot’ and compare it with a clean area. The comparison allows you to drill down what will be most effective in your community. Your community group will receive $500 reimbursement for completing your local litter check. For more information: Click Here Community Support ProgramPurpose: To deliver activities that fosters a sense of community This Program provides support for the community to deliver activities which require a small amount of funding and/or in-kind support. For more information: Click here Environmental Research Grants LMCCPurpose: To develop appropriate land use practices The Lake Macquarie Environmental Research Grants program supports projects that assist Council and other environmental managers to develop appropriate land use practices, plan remedial and preventative works as well as adjust management strategies. Grants up to $8000 are available to students, academics or other research-based organisations. For more information visit lakemac.com.au. Infrastructure Grants - ClubGrants Category 3 FundPurpose: To fund grants that support new or upgraded community facilities Liquor & Gaming NSW offers grants to communities across NSW to support the building, renovation and fitout of infrastructure. Funding is available for sport and recreation, arts and cultural infrastructure, and projects that enhance facilities used to shelter communities and provide emergency services. Infrastructure Grants support new or upgraded community facilities across sport and recreation, arts and culture and emergency preparedness. $50,000 to $200,000 for arts and culture, For more information: click here. Insulin Pump ProgramThe Australian Government's Insulin Pump Program provides subsidies to very low income families who have children with type 1 diabetes. The Program aims to improve access and and affordability of insulin pumps for limited income families who have children (up to 18 years of age) with type 1 diabetes, and do not have access to other means of reimbursement, such as private health insurance. Since its inception in 2008, the Program has provided over 800 subsidised pumps to children with type 1 diabetes. Subject to meeting with the Program criteria, families with a combined annual income of up to $107,548 will be able to apply for a pump subsidy under the Program. You can submit an expression of interest to join a potential funding waiting list for a subsidy towards the purchase of an insulin pump. Around 90 pumps per year will be distributed. For more information: Click here Flying Start ProgrammePurpose: To help enhance the lives of people in their local community in the areas of charity, health, sport, education or the arts Entry is open to not-for-profit community groups and organisations of any size, who are seeking funding to help enhance the lives of people in their local community; and can be classified into one of the following categories:

For more information: Click here Local Sporting Champions ProgramPurpose: To help our junior sport stars meet the costs of participation at eligible sporting competitions. The Local Sporting Champions program is an initiative designed to help Shortland’s young athletes realise their sporting dreams and compete in their sporting competitions. Local junior athletes turning 12 to 18 years of age in the same calendar year as the nominated sporting championship can apply for a grant to cover the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms and equipment. Associated with participating in an eligible championship, individual athletes who are participating in appropriately endorsed state school sport championships or international competitions and are travelling more than 250km return from the competition are eligible to apply for support. For more information: Click Here National Youth Week – Lake Macquarie City CouncilPurpose: To celebrate the contribution young people in the community Have you got an event idea to celebrate Youth Week in 2018? Not-for-profit community groups in Lake Macquarie City can apply for grants of up to $1000 to fund activities during National Youth Week, 13-22 April 2018. Youth Week aims to give young people a voice to raise awareness of issues and promote ideas from young people in Lake Macquarie. Events and activities that achieve outcomes, such as improving access to services for young people 12-24 years old or ensuring they have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to public life, will be highly regarded for funding. NSW/ACT Young Achiever AwardsPurpose: To acknowledge, encourage and most importantly promote the positive achievements of all young people The purpose of the NSW/ACT Young Achiever Awards is to acknowledge, encourage and most importantly promote the positive achievements of all young people up to and including 29 years of age as of 31st December each year. Saluting Their Service Commemorations Grants ProgramPurpose: to preserve Australia’s wartime heritage and highlight the service and sacrifice of Australia’s servicemen and women. The Saluting Their Service (STS) grants are designed to support activities and projects that highlight the sacrifice and service of Australia’s servicemen and women. Writing NSW Access for Regional Writers GrantsFunding provider: The NSW Writers Centre Writing NSW Access for Regional Writers Grants are awarded by the NSW Writers’ Centre to help writers in regional NSW access professional development. Regional writers in any genre may apply for a travel grant of $300 to help them participate in an approved professional development event such as a workshop or seminar designed to further their writing or career skills.
