Dear JOYsters! It has been a busy few months for the (new predominantly remote) JOY team! After the hectic Radiothon time, we settled back in to doing a mix of live and remote and pre-recorded radio content. Our on air grid on JOY 94.9 Radio is now evolving into a block style, giving our listeners an even greater ability to identify types of content and music with a time of day. With the advent of our new Breakfast and Drive shows, we have been able to create extra day spots both before breakkie and after drive to enable broadcasters the ability to fill these
new spots. In addition, our JOY TV plans continue to evolve building on the success of Kerrie and Dolly's House Party, with many broadcasters working on plans to launch video content. JOY News is looking at how we can reach an even bigger audience with our original, rainbow specific content and I look forward to seeing the results of this work. I am heading off on four weeks leave this Monday, leaving JOY in the very trustworthy hands of Macca and the team. I wish you all a lovely July and look forward to being back on deck in August. Stay safe and well!
Warmest Wishes, Ange Barry
CEO JOY

JOY Breakfast and JOY Drive are on air! Last month we announced the second stage or our partnership with our generous patrons Geoffrey Smith and Gary Singer, with the launch of the new JOY Drive show with Anastasia and Warren. This followed our announcement in April on the new JOY Breakfast with The Murphys. Geoffrey and Gary’s belief in supporting independent community media has enabled us to introduce a second team who have both volunteered with JOY for many years, boosting our consistency of sound which is critical to our survival in a
rapidly evolving media space. We are confident that Anna, Dean, Anastasia and Warren, all experienced JOY presenters, will do an excellent job in this important endeavour. You can listen live to JOY Breakfast with the Murphys, weekdays 7am - 9am and JOY Drive with Anastasia and Warren, weekdays 4pm - 6pm, at JOY.ORG.AU, on 94.9 FM and DAB+ in Melbourne or via web apps such as TuneIn and iHeart Radio.
Move to the Victorian Pride Centre UpdateThe Victorian Pride Centre is set to open late 2020. Here at JOY we have started decluttering the office in Bourke St. and finishing the details of the new fit-out. Last week, VPC Board Chair Jude Munro AO and Deputy Chair Stuart Kollmorgen hosted a virtual tour to the Victorian Pride Centre construction, as well as announcing the new Pride Registry. This is an exciting store where you can purchase your very own piece of the Pride Centre. You now can buy something individually or start a giving circle with your organisation, community group, family or friends. There’s something for all budgets starting at $50, from plants to a pergola! Please support if you can. Sunday Arts / Meet the Artist fundraising Our very own member and Friday Night Live presenter, David Hunt is organising an Arts exhibition and JOY fundraiser in partnership with a local gallery. From David: "We are looking at having a special launch day, inviting guest to come along ( 20 at a time) to view, plus there will be an auction ( probably silent) of a couple of pieces with that money going to JOY, along with a raffle. We are looking at Launch/JOY fundraising day on Saturday 11 July @ Melbourne Style, South Melbourne." Thank you David for your initiative!
