PSS end of year closures

Due to the large number of referrals recently, the PSS programme is now closed to referrals. We will be open for referrals on Monday 6 January 2020.

If you would like to discuss referral options for your patient, please call the Mental Health Intake Team on 1300 170 554. We are available to assist you with options until Friday 19 December 2019, after which we will be closed for the CESPHN end of year closure period until Monday 6 January 2020.

For emergencies please call 000 or the Mental Health Access Line on 1800 011 511.

 

Project ECHO - coming soon in SLHD

Do you want direct access to an expert panel including Staff Specialist Psychiatrists who will provide free teaching and guidance on the management of people with complex mental health issues? Sydney LHD will be launching three Project ECHO® (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) networks in the inner west in 2020, each offering a 10-week program via videoconferencing consisting of weekly didactic education and complex case presentations.

GP Antenatal Shared Care - Coverage over holiday period

Please remember if you will be away over the holiday period women scheduled for routine antenatal care visits are required to be seen by a recognised/affiliated ANSC GP within your practice. If there are no recognised /affiliated ANSC GPs within your practice to attend this consultation, the woman should be referred to the hospital for a one-off visit. For all urgent clinical concerns, please contact:

Australian National Audit Office Report on the Implementation of the My Health Record system

The ANAO undertook an investigation to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of the My Health Record system under the opt-out model, considering whether the risks of the system are being appropriately assessed, managed and monitored and consider the arrangements that are in place to monitor and evaluate it.

Security Update – Windows 7 end of support

If you are still using Windows 7, then it's time to plan an upgrade! Support for the Windows 7 operating system is ending on 14 January 2020. After this, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for computers or devices running Windows 7.

Does your practice have a My Health Record policy in place?

Some practices who have registered under the My Health Record system are being requested to produce their organisation's policies on the access and secure use of the system for an internal review being undertaken by the system operator, the Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA).

NCIRS webinar: Working together to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander immunisation

The burden of many vaccine preventable diseases remains higher in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander than in non-Indigenous communities. This webinar focuses on how we can all work together to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander immunisation with an aim to reduce this inequity.

Cold chain management reminder

Many practices and facilities will be closed over the festive season. It is important for those who are storing vaccines to immediately check their fridges and data loggers when the practice or facility reopens to ensure appropriate cold chain has been maintained.

Disability Royal Commission Accessibility Strategy

The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability has released it Accessibility and Inclusion Strategy.

Immunisation providers reminded to record all adult vaccines on the Australian Immunisation Register

All adult vaccines including flu vaccine are required to be recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR). A new NCIRS report highlighted the need for providers to improve completeness of reporting adult vaccination data to AIR.

EOI - Allied Health Small Group Learning 2020

Central and Eastern Sydney PHN is seeking Expressions of Interest from Allied Health Professionals
to participate in our 2020 AHP Small Group Learning (SGL) Program which is being rolled out across
the PHN region. The AHP SGL learning format of education allows AHPs to share their knowledge and discuss daily practice issues with peers. Allied Health Professionals will be able to self-report on their learning.
