In case you missed it we have a new Defence Minister in the form of Senator Marise Payne. Our Editor Katherine Ziesing welcomes her into the Defence fold and looks at what the Senator has been doing prior to her appointment.

ADM hosted its fourth Defence Estate and Base Services Summit in Canberra on Tuesday – there was a huge turnout and a strong connecting chord of key themes.

Shinzo Abe has managed to alter Japan's constitution to allow its troops to fight overseas and Australia and India have concluded their first successful bilateral maritime exercise AUSINDEX15.

The NZ Army has received flatracks designed and built by Australian subcontractor Sea Box International, as part of the vehicle supply project managed by Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles Australia.

And in other news Norway's first F-35A rolls out, a Hawkei engineer wins a Young Achiever Award and we look at some projects referred to the Public Works Committee.

In the coming weeks as we await the White Paper you can follow the latest news and commentary on all of our channels including facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, and Katherine Ziesing and myself always look forward to hearing from you at news@australiandefence.com.au,
