Click to read more Are you prepared for the National Disability Insurance Scheme? The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new system of disability support that is being introduced across Australia. The NDIS will be implemented in South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and Sydney Local Health District from 1 July 2017. The NDIS replaces the existing NSW state system, Department of Family and Community Services (FACS), Ageing Disability and Home Care. When the NDIS is fully operational, an estimated 140,000 people in NSW will be able to access supports. Under the NDIS people will receive individualised funding packages that will enable them to purchase disability supports. The aspiration is that people with disability will be able to participate in the community socially and economically with greater choice and control. To help general practitioners, allied health professionals and service providers understand more about the NDIS and implications for the people they see, we are holding information sessions on 6 and 11 April at our Ashfield and Kogarah offices respectively, and on 2 May in the eastern suburbs (venue to be confirmed). Please save the date and keep your eye on the events calendar for updated information including speakers and topics for the evenings. |
