Autocross At An AirportBy Jared McGahen Although Susquehanna is still not able to host events due to COVID-19, the Central Pennsylvania Region hosted a two day event on June 6th and 7th. Several members from Susquehanna made the two hour trip to Mid-State Airport in the middle of the Black Moshannon Forest to shake off the rust of a long winter and spring of watching their cars collect pollen in the driveway. Jared McGahen in his Ford Fiesta, Quinn Slonaker in his Subaru Impreza, Martin Valent in his Mazda Miata, Chris Brown in his Ford Mustang, Ed Walls in his Chevy HHR, Justin and Eric Peachey in the Z06 Corvette, Dennis Latshaw in his Ford Mustang, Alex Pankiw in his C5 Corvette, Mike Thomas in his Miata, and Geoff Wolpert borrowed a few cars. The event went very smoothly even with a plane landing on the adjacent runway Sunday afternoon. I personally would like to thank Cliff Moten and his team for getting us back into racing and hosting a great event.June (Virtual) Regional MeetingThursday, June 25, 2020 @ 7:30 - to be held virtually through a Zoom meeting. It was 1956 when the first full season of racing began at Road America, and the June Sprints was part of that year’s schedule. Back then, the June Sprints was a component of the SCCA National Sports Car Championship, a series determining SCCA champions prior to today’s Runoffs® format. In 2020, the Runoffs return to Road America in October -- and winners from this weekend’s June Sprints certainly should be considered as “in the running” to claim an SCCA National Championship this fall. What did the victors have to say about their triumphs? Find out in post-race winner videos below. 2020 Great Lakes ProSolo Fast Notes JUN 16, 2020 — After a three-month delay, the 2020 Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo® season kicked off this past weekend in Peru, IN with the 2020 Tire Rack SCCA Great Lakes ProSolo. For the first time, at least in recent history, the two courses laid out on the concrete weren’t even intended to follow a similar path. Instead, course designer Dave Feighner worked with the surface challenges of the site and delivered two unique courses that worked out to be within about two seconds of each other on the clock. The left course featured a very fast slalom that allowed many cars to reach third gear while the right course was tight and technical, rewarding patience and accuracy.
