CITYarts is creating a mural in Washington D.C. in 2026 with art and writing by students across the country, all centered around the theme of peace. Girls Write Now has been invited to participate, and we need your submissions! Currently enrolled and alum Girls Write Now mentees aged 14-24 may submit a piece of writing or art that can fit on a 6 x 6 inch square to be included.

Beyond Barriers: Supporting Undocumented & First-Gen Youth

This Mentor Professional Development (PD) offers an overview of the legal, financial, and social barriers faced by undocumented and first-generation students and their families. The session also covers essential federal, state, and local protections for undocumented individuals, guidance on rights during encounters with immigration officers, and key resources available to support those impacted by detention. By the end of the workshop, attendees will be equipped with practical knowledge to better support undocumented and first-gen students, and to create more inclusive environments.

Considered to be one of the greatest American novels, this story explores the glittering promises and devastating illusions of the American Dream. The actor embodies multiple characters, conveying the lengths each will go to attain their desires. This event will feature a 60-minute solo stage adaptation, preceded by a 10-minute introduction to the show, and a discussion following the show.
