Click here Vol 26 No 03 18 Sept 2020 HSD 150 Cricket Exhibition MatchAs part of the HSD 150 celebrations the Senior cricket team welcomed the Leprechauns, Ireland’s premier wandering cricket club, to an exhibition match which was played at YMCA in Sandymount. The Leprechauns – featuring several past pupils – won the toss and elected to bat. A heavy shower delayed the start of play but once it passed the Leprechauns got off to a flyer, hitting several boundaries inside the first five overs. The High School made a breakthrough in the sixth over when Alexander O’Connor trapped their opening batter Leg Before Wicket (LBW). Runs kept flowing from the bat but The High School stuck to their task with wickets for Ben Shaw, Orla Bagnall, and another for O’Connor. At the conclusion of their innings Leprechauns Cricket Club reached a total of
180. The High School’s reply got off to a quick start with Ben Shaw (31) and Tristen DeBeer (44) scoring fluently. After they were dismissed, Sean O’Brien (35) took over the run scoring but in the end The High School fell three runs short of their target. It was an excellent match and a wonderful contribution to the HSD 150 celebrations. Form 6 Autumn ExaminationsThis October pupils in Form 6 will sit a series of examinations as a year group.
