Freshman Named Conference Rookie of the Year

For the first time in any sport, a Fighting Squirrel has been named USA South Rookie of the Year.

Students Take on Potter Psychology

In recent years, Professsor of Psychology Louise Freeman has used her love of the Harry Potter series of novels to explore scholarly topics — presenting at conferences, participating in discussions on podcasts, and lecturing to students. This semester, the professor returned to the Harry Potter Conference at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia where she has moderated a panel and watched as her students — for the first time — present their own Potter-inspired research. Read more >>

Students Shine at State OT Conference  

Occupational therapy students from the Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences recently attended the Virginia Occupational Therapy Association’s annual conference at George Mason University. Attendees Cortney Halsey, Taylor Delp, Sarah Hancock, and Jasleen Kaler co-presented with Assistant Professor Lisa Burns. Halsey, pictured below with Vice President of Health Sciences Linda Seestedt-Stanford, also was awarded the Barbara Howard Scholarship. 

 

Pianist to Perform Sunday

The Sunday Recital Series at Mary Baldwin College will continue at 3 p.m. on Sunday in Francis Auditorium with pianist Lynne Mackey, who will perform works of Rachmaninoff and Messiaen, along with the great “Handel Variations” of Johannes Brahms.  Read more >>
