From The Inside Out

February has long been a month of love, flowers and chocolate. However, this year I noticed a different kind of vibe in the weeks leading up to Valentine's Day. Rather than the typical advertisements about couples and relationships, I found myself coming across articles and quotes that were geared more toward our relationship with ourselves and how we relate to the world around us. Perhaps I kept seeing these ideas pop up because this is the direction I've been heading in my own life. Or maybe, just maybe we are experiencing a shift in consciousness. Maybe we are becoming more aware of each other and the fact that, as human beings, we have far more in common than we thought.

New Developments

Don and Kera beam into a brand new story arc in My Life As A Video Game! It's an 80s style "Beat 'em Up" arcade world with new heroes, new outfits and new bad guys.                                  Watch Episode 5 & Episode 6

There are a couple of new films in the works which I am honored to be helping out with on the creative side. Keep an eye on this space for more info.

I recently added a new section to the Video page on my website. Check out all the new footage!

Our Shifting World

As mentioned above, I believe the world is going through a shift. I think that there is a greater awareness of others and a greater desire to connect with them on a basic human level.

While there has long been a forward motion in terms of equality and freedom I believe that we are waking up to the realities of what that truly means, and it is happening faster than ever before. We no longer need to rely solely on the media and newspapers because individuals are making their own headlines. Facebook and Twitter have become enormous information highways and they are allowing ideas and truths to be shared without the skewed filter of big corporations. Of course there will still be bias, but the volition behind an individual's bias is far different than that of a corporation with a brand to protect.

There was a time when I thought of social media simply as a way to socialize while sitting behind a computer. However, now I see it as a way for individuals to rally together and create change. Knowledge is power. Awareness is power. We are ingesting high doses of both.

There are numerous people who will disagree with this idea and who believe that the world is actually getting darker and more superficial. To that I say yes, perhaps it is a little "rose colored" to think this way. But I also believe that we can live our lives one of two ways: thinking the world is with us or against us. Regardless of what is actually true our perception creates our entire experience. How we perceive the world around us is a choice. We always have a choice. What do you choose?

If I May Speak Candidly...

About the occupational hazard of being an actor.

I don’t usually jump on the bandwagon of comments when a celebrity passes away. To lament my sadness on Facebook because my "favorite" actor has died is, in my opinion, quite self-indulgent. However, this time it is different. This time I am far enough into this career to realize that this is a wake up call, a grave warning and an insight into how truly difficult it is to be an actor.

As I read through articles in the days following Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death, my stream of consciousness (and do keep in mind that this is a stream of consciousness) went something like this, which I will begin with a quote:

“I think there’s that pursuit to get at the thing that is underneath the thing that will illuminate a moment. That pursuit can produce madness, can produce a kind of irascibility, a kind of narcissism, but that’s what drives her.”                                                                                                                                          - George C. Wolfe

If you didn't see it last month, here is another chance to view the January newsletter.

I also just discovered this beautiful site for inspirational quotes (my favorite) via my good friend and brilliant actress/producer/humanitarian Nicole Watson
