Note from the RE I’m not sure how it’s Spooktober already! I keep typing nines at work... (wishing and hoping) it’s still September and we’re not approaching fall and winter! Somehow, this year has seemed to fly by...I guess when we aren’t stuck in the house all year, things go by faster than we realize. The end of the 2021 seasons are quickly approaching as well. Today marks the final Rallycross event for the year, and next weekend will be the last
Autocross and Rally Sprint events as well. While it’s the end of the racing season, it’s not the end of the work - we’ll get right into planning mode to get everything ready for the Banquet and next season! I look forward to seeing you all as we close the 2021 season! Keep it Classy Susquehanna,
Melissa
Upcoming EventsWhile you're here, why not register for some upcoming fun? We've got something for everyone in the very near future. Looking to plan ahead? View our full calendar on our website, and see when all the events this season are happening!
Final Autocross Event & 3rd Annual Mini Match TourThe final event of the season is upon us, and we will have a single point event in the morning, followed by our 3rd Annual Mini Match Tour. We’re going to allow everyone to participate this year, so we hope you stay for the entire day. What is the Match Tour you ask? It’s our localized version of an event that was once run in the National SCCA circuit. The
final point event in the morning will serve as our PAX indicator to determine who qualifies for each of the three groups that will compete. Remember - EVERYONE is eligible to participate in the match tour, so everyone gets to have some fun! The competing groups will consist of the following, PER HEAT:
- 1st-8th in PAX are the “Top Dogs”
- 9th-16th in PAX are the “Under Dogs”
- Everyone else who participates are the “Lucky Dogs” So we’ll have a total of 24 Top Dogs, 24 Under Dogs, and (hopefully) a lot of Lucky Dogs. From there, each grouping of racers will compete in a single elimination round to determine the overall winners of the event! Make sure to sign up as soon as you can, as we’ve capped the event at 115 and we won’t be raising it!

Spreading SCCA Through The Minority Racing AssociationOCT 21, 2021 — We at SCCA.com first recognized [Wesley] Brown when he lugged his Mustang GT in a box truck to Pitt Race despite living in Florida, just for a drivers’ school to get his competition license. Not unusual in and of itself, but it was late in the year, he was a long way from home, he had headed north – what was going on with this guy?The answer, as it most always does for Brown, was not in him particularly. Yes, he was on his way to (successfully, we might add) getting his comp license. But what was less obvious was the bigger picture.

Hagerty Feature: When to Buy or Rent That Special ToolOCT 05, 2021 — The big three auto parts stores (AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, and O’Reilly’s) all have tool rental programs. Basically, you buy the tool on a credit card, return it within the required window (and this varies between 24 hours and 45 days; make sure you know what it is), and they fully refund the balance to your card. If you’re short on money and they have the tool that you need, it’s a great way to lower the cost of a DIY repair.
