Salamanca Pedestrian Improvements - Update

Current Works

The next stage of works that will connect Salamanca Place to Hobart’s waterfront is now well underway. The upgrade will give the area a fresh, contemporary feel and provide a high-quality, safe and accessible space for everyone.

Stormwater crews have made great progress in upgrading underground infrastructure along Castray Esplanade.  Civil crews are currently removing the two traffic islands at the intersection of Castray Esplanade and Morrison Street, which will form part of the new road network.

Traffic Management Changes

From Monday 6 May 2019 there will be some changes to traffic management in the works area. Morrison Street, between the two sides of Castray Esplanade, will be closed for a period of two weeks (including nights and weekends).

During this time access from Morrison Street to Salamanca Place will be provided via a detour along Castray Esplanade. The closed section of Morrison Street is highlighted in yellow in the image below.
