Launch of the National Digital Health Strategy Consultation
We are encouraging practices, clinicians and health care providers to participate in the National Digital Health Strategy Consultation currently being conducted by the Australian Digital Health Agency. Some of the topics discussed include: - How should Australia take advantage of the opportunities that new technologies offer to improve health and care?
- What gets in the way of health professionals being able to
connect, communicate and coordinate with the right people?
- What do Australians want and expect from a modern health care system?
Individuals and groups can participate in this consultation through face-to-face events, making submissions or participating online via the survey.

Survey of primary health care clinicians (GPs, allied health professionals, nurses) on supporting people with chronic pain.
The NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation has engaged HealthConsult Pty Ltd to evaluate the implementation of the NSW Pain Management Plan (PMP) 2012-2016. The NSW Government aims to improve the quality of life for people living with chronic pain and their families by putting initiatives in place to help people better manage their pain. Chronic pain is defined as experiencing constant daily pain for three months. The $26 million provided under the PMP between 2012-2016 has been invested throughout NSW in providing pain management services, research and education. The aim of the 10-minute survey is to gather primary health care clinicians understanding, attitudes and approaches towards supporting
people living with chronic pain. Click here to complete the survey. Closes 5 December 2016, all survey information collected will be de-identified and anonymous.
HPOS access changes are coming
From 1 January 2017 new security updates to internet browsing software will impact the use of Medicare Individual Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates to access Health Professional Online Services (HPOS). You need to create a Provider Digital Access (PRODA) account to maintain your access and avoid disruptions to your HPOS services. If you already have a PRODA account for HPOS you do not need to create another one. PRODA already supports the new security updates and is a digital and portable platform that requires no additional hardware or software. It will avoid having to install additional software and drivers that were needed when using the USB PKI keys. For more information about PRODA or to find out how to create a PRODA account click here.
World AIDS Day - 1 December
HIV still exists in Australia. Data from NSW Health show that heterosexual people with HIV are more likely than homosexual men to be diagnosed with advanced HIV infection. A late diagnosis increases the risk of morbidity and mortality. World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year. It is a day for the community to show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died of AIDS related conditions or other conditions associated with HIV.
