Council election voting materials arrive by post this month.Nominations for Council Members and Mayor closed mid-September and with nominations exceeding the quota for available positions, we will require an election. If you are registered to vote (on either the House of Assembly Roll or Council's Supplementary Roll) you should receive a voting pack by mail between 22 and 26 October 2018. Voting is by return post and must be received by 5pm, 9 November. Don't miss your chance to make a difference and shape the Adelaide Hills Council so that it best represents you. Free Green Organics Drop Off DaysTo assist with fire prevention in the district, Adelaide Hills Council provides a number of free green organic drop off days throughout the year. Citizen of the Year Awards are now open for 2019.The Adelaide Hills Council is filled with people who are generous with their time, build creative solutions, and raise the profile of their communities. We love to recognise these amazing people with our annual Citizen of the Year Awards. Public access defibrillators increase safety for our communities. Automated external defibrillators have now been installed outside the Gumeracha Library, Woodside Library, Summit Community Centre (Norton Summit) and Coventry Library (Stirling). Used in the event of cardiac arrest, these devices (available 24/7) guide users with audible and visual prompts to help stabilise a person in need until emergency services arrive. The Stirling main street is one of four nominees for the People's Choice Award in the 2018 Mainstreet SA Awards. As the 2017 winner, Stirling will be inducted into the Mainstreet SA Hall of Fame if it takes out the prize again in 2018. Help promote our district by giving Stirling a quick vote before 10 October. Help us protect the Adelaide Hills' Rat Pack. Our Biodiversity Team has been hard at work producing educational signs along the Aldgate Valley Creek and Cox Creek to alert visitors to a native resident in danger; the water rat, Rakali. Residents and visitors can keep this unique animal safe by keeping waterways clear of rubbish and pollutants, containing or keeping an alert bell on their pets, and keeping yabbie nets, specifically the 'Opera House' design, out of our creeks and lakes.
