NOVEMBER 2018 NEWSLETTER

It is officially fall.  The cooler temperatures have arrived and the mountains are covered in color, including white at higher elevations.  Fall is a time when I look forward to a rainy evening and a chance to enjoy a fire and a glass of wine.  It’s also a time when you are going to be spending more time in your home rather than outside.  Does the space make you want to stay and settle in or pull your hair out because it doesn’t really fit your needs?  Take the time to feel your space. Do you have too much space?  Not enough space?  Not enough storage?  Unused bedrooms?  Too few bathrooms?  There are many reasons why my clients decide to explore other options.  If you decide it’s time to make a change, I’m happy to help

Holiday Festivities Right Around the Corner

Every year, Windermere invites a "special guest" to visit its Redman Building office, and you are all invited!  The event is on Thursday, December 6th, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.  There will be photos with Santa, Kids Crafts, and plenty of food and drinks.  Please send me an email if you will be coming (mimi@winutah.com) so that I can be sure to meet you there.  The Windermere Redman building is located in the heart of Sugarhouse at 1240 E. 2100 South, Ste. 600.

Also, Windermere is collecting winter boots and gloves for those in need during the holiday season.  If you have any items you'd like to donate, please bring them to Windermere's 9th & 9th  office (1059 East 900 South, Suite 205) anytime during the month of December.  For every item donated, Windermere will make a matching contribution.

Home Decor Trends

More time spent indoors means more time dreaming about changes you would make to your home or its decor.  Kitchens, bathrooms and flooring are the big things you can do (and I can provide you with outstanding referrals for home construction projects, big or small) but what about current color pallets and textures? I have spent the last few weekends touring the local design stores, scouring the internet, and speaking with local designers.

Color Pallets for 2019 are at complete opposite ends of the spectrum according to the Pantone Color Institute. Spicy reds, flamingo orange, and rich purples tempered with neutral shades of cappuccino and grassy green are where those wanting a more contemporary feel are headed. If this color palette makes you nervous, or if you are afraid to step outside of the white/grey comfort zone, find a designer to advise you on the colors that will work for your space.  Here are a few photos with these colors in place:

There are several great interior design stores in Salt Lake. For those liking the bolder colors with a more modern style, Madison McCord on 3960 S. Highland is a great place to start. There is a large selection and expansive showroom allowing you to find a piece that will transform your home décor. You can check out their website here.

For those that prefer a softer pallet, I would encourage you to visit Ivy Design at 3174 S. Highland. Their showroom has some gorgeous pieces incorporating the whites, caramels, and tweeds that really add a sense of elegance to a room.  Check out their website here.

Hosted in the historic Rio Grande Depot on Saturdays from 10-2, this market brings the best of the Farmer's Market indoors, including fresh vegetables from late season harvests and area greenhouses. SLUG Mag's Brewstillery

This festival promotes the unique craft beer and distillery culture our state has to offer. New Recipe

Here is recipe that we modified from one found in The Feed Zone.  This cookbook was designed for professional cyclists and is used by top flight athletes of all types.  We make this mixture on Sunday, refrigerate, and then make breakfast burritos throughout the week.  Enjoy!

High Protein Make-Ahead Breakfast Burritos

  1. 1 pound ground chicken (can substitute with ground turkey)
  2. 1 large sweet potato
  3. 12 eggs
  4. 1 packet of taco seasoning
  5. Shredded cheddar cheese

Bring pot of water to a boil.  Peel, dice, and add sweet potato to boiling water and cook until done.

While sweet potato is cooking, cook ground chicken with very small amount of olive oil in large skillet until done.  Add 1 tablespoon of taco seasoning to chicken while cooking.  While chicken cooks, beat 12 eggs in small bowl.  Add beaten eggs to chicken and continue to mix and stir until eggs are cooked.   Add 1-2 additional tablespoons of taco seasoning while egg/chicken mixture cooks to taste.

Mash cooked sweet potato and add to egg/chicken mixture.  Stir together well. Season with salt, pepper, and additional taco seasoning to taste.

When ready to serve, add small amount of cheddar cheese and add mixture to tortilla.
