Suboxone Stories - Part I: Two clients share their journeys with opioid replacement therapy

Dwayne says he woke up one day and realized he couldn't do it anymore. After years of taking a prescription opioid to manage chronic pain caused by severe arthritis and foot surgery, he was ready to stop. "You get to the point where you're constantly focused on the next dose," he says. "You are a slave to it and you realize you're living in a fog. It all got to be too much."

A flame in the darkness – Theo Fleury visits Kwadacha Nation

As the plane took off from Prince George’s airport on January 16—its second attempt to get going to Kwadacha that day—it carried a famous Canadian: Theo Fleury. The Olympian and Stanley Cup champion landed on the gravel airstrip at the confluence of the Fox, Kwadacha and Finlay rivers in the Rocky Mountain Trench. His visit was part of the village’s ongoing commitment to dedicate a week every two months to new and innovative health and healing activities.

Join the new four-part Teamwork & Communication Action Series

The abilities to work cooperatively and communicate effectively are essential to creating a healthy workplace  culture. To support teams in developing skills, the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council is launching the Teamwork & Communication Action Series to improve the delivery of patient care. The series consists of four learning- and action-based webinars over 12 weeks to help ignite change.

Let your voice be heard by the Native Women's Association - complete their survey

The Native Women's Association of Canada (NWAC) has created a survey that will inform changes being made to the Federal Accessibility Legislation. This survey is for Indigenous women who have a mental or physical disability, or who are the primary caregivers of someone with a mental or physical disability. The survey is available until February 19.

New web portal for early years training

earlyyearsbc.ca is a new web portal that will help early years professionals in accessing and selecting learning opportunities in BC. The web portal displays upcoming early years  training events from over 75 agencies throughout British Columbia. You can search by keyword on your phone, tablet or computer. An interactive map displays training sessions by location.

Apply for up to $50,000 in funding for family violence prevention projects

The call for proposals is now open for family violence prevention projects located off-reserve that support First Nations, Inuit or Métis community members. Project proposals can be up to a maximum of $50,000. Indigenous organizations that have family violence prevention as part of their mandate will be prioritized.

The deadline to submit a proposal is March 10, 2017.
