School Author Visit Fund & Classroom Book Set

As a community partner of the Latinx Kidlit Book Fest, Girls Write Now is excited to highlight two exciting opportunities to bring Latinx literature to your classrooms this year. The Latinx Kidlit Book Festival in collaboration with children's publishers are giving away free classroom sets of books to schools across the country. Educators and librarians can apply for a real-time, in-person or virtual visit from a Latinx kidlit author or illustrator.

Join the brilliant Priyanka Mattoo, author of Bird Milk & Mosquito Bones, as she guides us through her exploration of family, identity, and the impact of history on the present. Engage in thought-provoking writing prompts and conversations about the inspiration, themes, and creative process behind the memoir.

Join us for the final Open Mic of our Summer Series! Ten readers are given three minutes to perform their work—poetry, songs, story excerpts, and more—in front of a live audience at Girls Write Now. We will begin with a generative group writing exercise to explore our own creativity before hearing from performers. Enjoy light snacks and refreshments!
