International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples: "It's another good day to be Indigenous!"

A message from Dr. Evan Adams, FNHA Chief Medical Officer

Yesterday, August 9, is International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, and – like Canada’s Indigenous People’s Day, on June 21 – it’s also a time for all Indigenous (and non-Indigenous!) peoples to celebrate the beautiful, powerful and magical cultures and heritages of Indigenous peoples. This time around the globe, not just across our country!

Clean Air Shelters: Information to help you stay safe during wildfire smoke

Wildfire smoke can have additional health risks for vulnerable populations or create irritating symptoms in healthy individuals. Staying indoors is recommended during smoke events to reduce exposure to smoke. Creating a clean air shelter is effective to reduce exposure.

Clean air shelters are areas, rooms or buildings that have a filtration system that reduces the amount of particulates generated by wildfire smoke. Learn more about clean air shelters and how to create them here.
