COVID-19 UPDATE There continue to be no cases of community transmission reported in NSW, however one hotel quarantine related case has been confirmed. People who attended Mootch and Me café in Brighton Le Sands on Tuesday, 2 February between 10.45 am and 12.00 pm are advised to monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if these occur. LATEST NEWS Vaccine reporting to AIR now mandatory Reporting to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) has now been mandated by the Australian Parliament. Any COVID-19 vaccines, once approved for use and administered in Australia must be reported to the AIR. Influenza vaccinations must be reported to the AIR from 1 March 2021 and all other NIP vaccinations must be reported from 1 July 2021. Failing to report to the AIR will result in civil penalty of "30 penalty units", which equates to a fine of $6,660 according to the Crimes Act 1914. Providers may be liable for civil penalty after being given written notice by the Secretary. COVID-19 vaccine training now available The Australian Government has partnered with the Australian College of Nursing to develop and deliver free and accredited online training modules for individuals involved in the administration of COVID-19 vaccines. In preparation for Australia’s vaccine rollout, authorised immunisation providers must complete COVID-19 vaccination training. Administrative and non-clinical staff can also enroll to access non-clinical modules. Training is available now. COVID-19 vaccine training modules are categorised into two groups: core and additional. Core COVID-19 modules involve training for COVID-19 vaccination more broadly. NEW CPD webinar series for 2021: St George Hospital education program We are excited to announce a new partnership with St George Hospital to deliver a monthly education series for general practitioners. When: TODAY Wednesday, 10 December 2021 | 6.30pm-8.30pm Sydney Local Health District Clinical Support Guidelines for Residential Aged Care Facilities The Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) Clinical Support Guidelines for Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs) have been developed in collaboration with LHD staff, consumers, GPs from RACFs, general practices and communities throughout SLHD. The guidelines support the Model of Care for RACF Outreach in the SLHD, designed to provide high quality support and integration of care between the acute and primary care sectors. Research findings and resources for health professionals Addressing preventable disease burden to improve health outcomes for people with schizophrenia and related psychoses. Research undertaken by UNSW’s Department of Developmental Disability Neuropsychiatry (3DN) investigated the health needs and service use of people with lived experience of psychotic disorders in NSW. From this research, 3DN has produced two resources targeting health professionals and people with lived experience of psychotic disorders. Both have been converted into one-page summaries outlining the key findings of the research. INVITE: HAVE YOUR SAY - Consultation on the early childhood approach for health professionals The NDIA recently released two consultation papers outlining the research, recommendations and background on the Early Childhood Early Intervention reset: The NDIA Community Engagement and Communications team would like to extend an invite to you to attend a closed consultation session for people working across the sector with young children and families. Help improve mental health outcomes for children in Australia Emerging Minds, along with its delivery partners, are conducting a national workforce survey for family, parent and child mental health. They want to hear from professionals in health, social and community services who work with adults who are parents, and/or children. Pharmacy immunisation talking points for February NSW Health's Immunisation Unit have released the February talking points for pharmacists. This month, pharmacists should be focusing on vaccine fridge audits and ensuring pharmacists record all necessary details for every administered vaccine as per the NSW Pharmacist Vaccination Standards. Launch of new easy read resources providing information about public mental health services in NSW The Department of Developmental Disability Neuropsychiatry (3DN), UNSW Sydney, with support from the Social Policy Research Centre, UNSW Sydney and the NSW Ministry of Health, has developed a series of new easy read resources providing information about accessing and navigating mental health services available within NSW. They are for people with intellectual disability and for those who prefer simple written information. New website to improve mental health recovery after disasters The Disaster Mental Health Hub has a wealth of information, resources and training to help mental health professionals support individuals, families and communities experiencing impacts of disasters. Developed by Phoenix Australia in collaboration with Primary Health Networks and other key partners, CESPHN was part of the reference group in the development of the Disaster Mental Health Hub.
