This event is a highlight of the calendar so miss it at your peril! Tickets are available at the door and cost €5 for pupils, €7 for adults. The performance begins at 7.30 pm. The best of luck to everyone involved! Junior A Plate FinalLast Thursday 23 March, the Junior A girls played in the Plate cup final against Rathdown School. The girls went 1-0 down just after the first 20 minutes. The score remained the same all the way through the game. The girls kept fighting until the very end, winning many short corners. A World of WoodThroughout the year, our talented Construction Studies pupils have been busy completing their projects behind the closed doors of the 'T-Block'. For some, the Technical Block is a mysterious, unknown world, which hums to the sound of saws and sanders and smells of freshly-cut wood and varnish. We have taken a glimpse inside and here is a tantalizing sample of the work so far. Images of finished projects to follow soon. World Premiere at NCHOn Tuesday 4 April the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra will perform the world premiere of '2016.4' by past pupil Sebastian Adams (HSD, 2004-10) which is largely inspired by Mozart’s great comic opera, The Marriage of Figaro. Andrew Hamilton’s ‘c’, which Sebastian loves for its ‘joyful emotional power’ and the Irish premiere of Glanert’s 'Insomnium', an adagio for orchestra, complete the programme. Gavin Maloney conducts. The sale is the main parish fundraiser and also an important community event in the life of Rathgar Village. A lot has changed since the 2015 sale, and you will find lots of new stalls and attractions to enjoy. This year the emphasis is much more on family fun and we have a veritable mountain of toys and games as well as a dedicated soft toy stall and a whole marquee full of games and activities. You can also expect to find traditional favourites such as Teas, Books, Cakes & Buns, Household Goods, Zee Bay (Bric-a-Brac), Toys, New 2U (good as new quality Pre-Loved Clothing), Bumps & Babes (for all your baby requirements) and the wonderful Deli & Market Garden stall. In addition, there will be a range of Plants & Garden Accessories, Bottles & Cosmetics; the Auction and our famous Monster Raffle; as well as a well-stocked Entertainment stall (Games, DVDs, CDs, and vinyl). The entrance fee is €2 which includes a Sale Brochure which contains many useful contact details along with offers from advertisers and information about shops, restaurants and services available in the local area. Bring friends and family and enjoy being part of life in Rathgar Village Diversity Week at HSDThe Blue Shield Award is part of an anti-bullying campaign developed by the ISPCC to publicly recognize the efforts of schools or clubs who are taking a positive, proactive approach to preventing bullying. As part of The High School's efforts to earn our Blue Shield Flag, our Form 1 pupils have planned an entire week of events to celebrate diversity. They created this video to explain what lies in store for us next week. Celebrating International AchievementPast pupil and hockey international Shane O'Donoghue (HSD, 2008-2011) visited us on Monday to present The High School with one of his Ireland jerseys to add to our ever-growing corridor-collection. If you are a past pupil of the school and have represented Ireland in any sport on the international stage, perhaps you might consider a similar donation? If so, please get in touch with the school. We would love to hear from you. Dates for your Diary
