PIPELINE

Nepal hydro project progresses

InfraCo Asia’s 37.6MW run-of-river hydro power project, ‘Kabeli A’ in eastern Nepal, is in an advanced stage of development. With construction about to commence, the project company Kabeli Energy Limited is further strengthening its senior management team and has appointed Mr Shersingh Bhat as CEO.  Groundbreaking is planned for late March 2017. The project, once developed, will play a vital role in bolstering Nepal’s capacity to provide reliable, sustainable energy to its people, and will generate an additional 205GWh per year.

IAI Call for Proposals yields positive response

InfraCo Asia Investments (IAI), sister company of InfraCo Asia Development Pte. Ltd. (IAD, InfraCo Asia) and part of the Private Infrastructure Development Group, was pleased to receive a wide range of project proposals over the end of 2016 and start of 2017.

The IAI team are currently vetting proposals to identify those which meet its investment criteria, and will be following up with viable opportunities over the coming weeks.

FROM THE CEO'S DESK

The New Year is well underway, and InfraCo Asia’s project pipeline continues to grow significantly under our developer services and co-development programs.

Our development and financing support of each successful project spreads awareness of our sustainable development model, catalysing private sector investment that would not be possible without our stabilising involvement.

The InfraCo Asia team and their families gathered together last month for a relaxed evening hosted by my wife, Anne, and I on the rooftop of our Singapore home. It was a convivial setting to reflect on a busy year of diligence and achievements.

Last year we celebrated the commercial operation of the Coc San Hydro Power Project in Vietnam and the Metro Wind and Gul Ahmed Wind Power Projects in Pakistan.

Next month's ground-breaking ceremony in Nepal will celebrate the implementation work about to commence on another run-of-river hydro power project. The fledgling beginning of a brand new project is an excellent reminder of the work we yet have to do. We are delighted to have commitments and developments underway in nine of the twelve countries in South and South East Asia where we are mandated to work, and this stands to increase as the year progresses.

We look forward to keeping our readers and supporters up to date. Wishing all a happy and safe year ahead.
